Veterinexpo and its 44 years of experience!

Veterinexpo and its history over time

Veterinexpo is an exceptional opportunity for both exhibitors and visitors to connect the different protagonists of the veterinary world. This show allows to discover new products and materials as well as to connect or maintain important contacts, since 1981, the date of the very first edition.

Show history:

The first days of the show were held in the cellars of the Faculty of Veterinary Medicine of Cureghem before taking place in the Jolibois room of Woluwé St Pierre and then at the Autoworld at the 50th anniversary in Brussels.

In the early 1990s, the show took place at the Parc des Expositions in Brussels before the faculty moved to Liège. Veterinexpo was then organized for a few years in the cafeteria of the Faculty of Veterinary Medicine.

In 2001, the space available at the faculty becoming insufficient, we prime the decision to move the show to the Wex of Marche-en-Famenne. The exhibition was kept at this place until 2012, when it moved to Ciney Expo which after an edition in Libramont in 2016 became our historic site until today.

Veterinexpo has had some challenges, after a particular 2020 year due to the Covid-19 epidemic19, we saw the first edition of Veterinexpo 100% digital with conferences and an online catalog bringing together all the partner firms.
The event also suffered from this epidemic in 2021, forcing the show to be postponed until April 2022.

In december 2022, Veterinexpo took place as a Congress at the Amphitheaters of Europe of the University of Liège. To offer a multitude of training and conferences for veterinarians.

This year, as the 2023 edition,  the 44th edition will be back at CineyExpo, on November 2 & 3, where we are looking forward to you!

Previous editions

  • 2021

Due to the health situation, the 41st edition of Vetrinexpo scheduled for 2 and 3 December 2021 had to be postponed to April 2022.
Special date, exceptional edition aiming to review the last 40 editions and developments of Veterinexpo from the parking lot of the Cafetaria in Cureghem to Ciney Expo and its 6000 m2 of exhibition.
101 companies were present for this anniversary edition allowing the return in person so much awaited of our show.

  • 2020

Due to the health situation due to the COVID-19 outbreak, the 40th edition of Veterinexpo could not be held in person. A 100% digital edition was set up with online conferences for veterinarians, vet nurses and students. A fully dematerialized catalogue with partner firms has been set up to maintain contact between the firms and animal health professionals.

  • 2017

Veterinexpo 2017 saw its return to the Ciney Expo and that during the weekend of December 2nd and 3rd. The show was able to count on the presence of 75 firms spread over the 4000m2 available in the hall. This year, we recorded the presence of 1800 visitors (60% small animal veterinarians and 40% rural and equine veterinarians) and also the help of more than 200 volunteer students. Regarding the new features of this edition, we can mention the success of the suggested path but also training for veterinary assistants (s). In addition and as every year, certified training courses were organized through our partner Formavet asbl and many demonstrations/ conferences took place in the exhibition area on the demo space. The Gala also saw its image gilded by a good participation both from veterinarians and exhibitors and all in a friendly atmosphere. Thank you again for your visit and we are already waiting for the next edition.

  • 2015

The 2015 edition welcomed more than 2700 unique visitors on the weekend with a peak of occupancy on Saturday despite climatic fluctuations and some dramatic circumstances. This year a major novelty appeared at the show: the accrediting conferences, transforming our show into a real congress. As with any size change, the concept takes some time to get set up, we will of course repeat the experience at the 2016 edition! And to finish this review, the entire organizing committee of the show would like to sincerely thank its volunteers (more than 350!) who allow each year to hold the show, make it grow, and, We hope to improve it in the eyes of all our visitors. Thank you for your visit.

  • 2012

The 2012 Veterinexpo was marked by a move. It took place at CineyExpo on 23, 24 and 25 November. 78 firms were represented for this edition on about 5000m 2, a much larger area than in previous years. As every year, the show welcomed many visitors (3,000) including half of veterinary doctors. Training sessions were organized through our partners, NeoAnimalia and Formavet. New for 2012, practical presentations of new devices (ultrasound, for example) were held in the exhibition grounds. The gala took place as every year in a festive atmosphere and was a success. We would like to thank all our volunteers who attended, as every year, and without whom the show could not exist.

  • 2010

Veterinexpo 2010 took place on 21,22 and 23 November at the Wex de Marche in Famenne. This year the show hosted 77 firms in a unique palace of 3600m2 as the previous year. The number of visits rose to 2800, including 1550 veterinary doctors.  The opening of the show took the form of a debate on rural veterinary and its future in the presence of Ministers Lutgen and Laruelle. NeoAnimalia and Formavet have offered no less than six courses this year. They covered various topics such as bovine cesarean section, NAC dentistry, equine medical imaging, drug residues, The meeting was held in Brussels on 7 and 8 December 1998. Yaboumba also marked his presence with a theoretical training in medicine of NACs. A full symposium was held on Sunday on livestock diseases. Finally, the traditional and now renowned Saturday night gala (Wex Club) has met all expectations for its friendliness and quality. The Faculty of Veterinary Medicine was even more ubiquitous this year than in previous years by holding its joint stand with the SGEMV at the entrance to the exhibition hall. In addition, often omitted detail: the active participation of more than 100 students throughout the 3 days of the show allowed a quality bar and restaurant service, to the great satisfaction of visitors and exhibitors.

  • 2009

Veterinexpo 2009 took place on the weekend of 20, 21 and 22 November. The show welcomed 70 exhibitors on 3,600 m 2. No less than 2900 visitors, including 1500 veterinary doctors visited the show. For this edition, the organizers have deliberately chosen to reduce to a single exhibition hall. We were very much in favour of a more friendly atmosphere and a better flow of visitors in the aisles. The opening day of the Apfte Expo 2009 was also animated by a great debate. Politicians, representatives of the veterinary profession, professors and practitioners expressed their vision of training for future generations. The ribbon-cutting ceremony and a visit to the stands by Minister Marcourt closed the inauguration ceremony. The organization of practical training and workshops for practitioners was the great novelty of this edition. Two pillars of veterinary training in Belgium were our partners (Formavet and Neo Animalia). Nearly 150 veterinary doctors came to train during the visit of the show.

  • 2008

  • 2022

Veterinexpo 2022 took place on 26 and 27 November at the University of Liège in the Amphitheaters of Europe.

In order to return to the basics of the show, after having passed through the COVID-19 crisis, Apfte expo has been transformed into a Congress for one weekend.

  • 2023

The 43rd edition of Veterinexpo took place on 21 and 22 October 2023 at CineyExpo under the theme “different expectations in recruiters and recruits” The meeting was attended by no less than 90 firms and 1800 visitors.
The show was, as always, punctuated by various lectures given by renowned veterinarians, as well as round tables and practical work offered to veterinary students. In addition, accredited training courses supervised by Formavet  were given as of Friday, October 20.

We thank all our partners and volunteers for their trust and investment without which this show would probably not have the same energy.
